When planning a kid’s party apart from the activities that will keep the children occupied the food will be one of the most important things to organise before the day. The important thing to remember is that kids are the fussiest eaters in the world so make sure you have a wide selection of food to keep them all happy. When choosing your foods you should also bear in mind things like allergies, many children can be allergic to nuts so always check with parents before hand.
Ideas for kids party food
For kids parties it would be best to have a buffet style selection of food, this way there is more choice and the children can eat as much or as little as they want. Here are some examples of good kids party food:
For cold children’s buffet
- Sandwiches (selection of about 3 fillings)
- Sausage rolls
- Salad
- Crisps
For warm children’s buffet
- Pizza slices
- Sausages
- Quiche
- Chips
For children’s sweet buffet
- Jelly and ice cream
- Fairy cakes
- Biscuits
- Fruit salad
Obviously you don’t need to make the selection as large as these examples but you should be sure to make enough options at least two from each section should be fine.
How much food should you make a children’s party?
Knowing how many children exactly are going to attend the party always makes it much easier to know how much food you should make. You should be able to work out how much each child is going to eat from what time of day it is and how much your child normally eats at that time. If it’s in the morning or early afternoon then snack amounts of food should be fine, if its evening then you may want to provide a more substantial meal.
